Describing Photography

Big Laundry Day
1) The location and date of the picture are unknown. It's an image of telephone wires. In this scene, there's laundry hanging from some telephone wires. In this picture, you can see a rocky field. In the foreground, there's a person on a ladder, and in the background, there's a cloudy sky. The objects look as if they're swaying in the breeze. The viewer's attention is focused on the colored clothing or the ladder poking out in the middle. The photo is colorful and warm. The photo makes the audience feel intrigued. The picture makes us think about creative ideas (using a wire for airing out laundry) and problem solving! It looks like a rocky field with a line of telephone wires. The photographer mostly uses natural colors (greens, blues, etc.) The photographer uses big, soft clouds to provide a homey feeling of living out in a prairie-esque landscape. They most likely want to show how one can be innovative to complete any task. It appears to me that there's a faint rainbow in the background, adding to this welcoming atmosphere.

Impact
2) This photo was taken in an unknown location at an unknown time. It's an image of a man on a canoe. He's not going very far. In this scene, the man is casually standing on top of a canoe in a lake, however the shore of this lake is fragmented into glass-like pieces. In this picture, you can see a converging mass of clouds in the center. In the foreground, there's a man on a canoe, with one foot out into the glass shards of water. In the background, there is a slightly cracked lake behind the man. In the upper area, one can see an incredibly clouded sky. The person in this scene looks kinda confused, which is to be expected. The viewer's attention is focused on the green canoe because it stands out among all of the blue in the image. The photo provides an abstract vibe, and it makes us feel confused. The picture makes us think about the nature of water and glass, the ways in which they resemble one another. It looks like the water is glass and that's pretty rad. The photographer mainly uses triangular shapes to depict the glassy water, and, just, lots of blue. So much blue. Furthermore, they utilize the water fragments to express a sense of brokenness. They want to show how life is a highway  similar to a canoe trip, but one can reach a dead, confusing end. It appears to me that either the point at which the clouds converge is edited poorly, or there's a weird, white tornado behind that man. In that case, sir, you should probably get going. Run.

Face vs Fist
3) This image was taken at an unknown time and place. It's an image of a person punching himself in the face. Relatable content. In this scene, there's a man in front of a solid color background with his fist right in his face. In this picture, you can see me when I forget how to do a simple equation a frustrated individual giving himself what he believes he deserves -- a smack right in the face. In the background, there's a solid color background with a gradient and shadows to provide depth. In the foreground, there is a man, and, you won't believe it, he's punching himself in the face. The person depicted in this image appears as if he's frustrated, or maybe his hand is just really mad at him. The viewer's attention is focused on the wrinkles/lines in the man's face from his fist behind in it. The photo is incredibly relatable, as everyone has felt similar emotions. The photo makes us feel like, wow, I wish that was me. The photo makes us think about our relationship with ourselves, and how some things that we do may counteract our own beliefs/morals, or put ourselves backwards. It looks like pain (or a man throwing fists at himself, though I am unsure if I am repeating myself at this point). The photographer mainly uses shades of brown in this photo. They use these colors to provide a natural atmosphere to the image. They likely want to express how sometimes people do stupid things that put themselves in harm. It appears to me that a man is getting punched and his face probably should not be going that far in. Someone, please send him to a hospital immediately.

Fishy Island
4) This photo was taken at both an unknown event and time. It's an image of a really, really large fish. This scene depicts an island lying on top of a fish. In this picture, you can see a few houses sat upon a rocky (fish) island that floats above a cavern of sorts. In the upper portion of the image, one can see a clouded sky, and on the left, one can observe the verdant treeline. The fish looks as if it's almost upset and having, well, not the best day. The viewer's attention is focused on the giant, sad fish in the center. The photo is realistic, but reflects fantastical elements such as an entire fish island. This image makes the audience feel confused and intrigued about the nature of its creation. The picture makes us think about possibly pollution and the environment or maybe just fish. It looks like a very green/natural piece. The photographer mainly uses natural shades of blue and green, complimented by pale reds and browns. The photographers uses the fish to possibly express the affects of pollution, or how the base for civilization are fish, due to the fact that the houses are structured on the fish's back. Or maybe they just think fish are neat. They probably want to criticize people who litter or possibly even fishermen in general. It appears to me that if you look really closely in the right area, you can see a small boat cruising over to the island.

Skoor
5) This image was photographed at an unknown time and location. It's an image of a boot. The scene depicts a person standing inside of a boot, while the sun rises behind him. In this picture, you can see the child of the woman who lived in a shoe track marks on the ground, likely some sort of farm machine, and one can observe the footprints behind him from the boots. In the background, there is a beautiful rising sun and a mass of gray clouds beneath it. To the left, one can see the person holding up the shoelaces like rope. The boots in this image appear as if they are new and not worn. The viewer's attention is focused on the figure poking out of the left boot, as their figure contrasts the sky and they emerge out of a larger shape. The photo feels very warm and welcoming. The photo causes the audience, in turn, to feel happy, though slightly confused for the very small person... or the big shoe. The picture makes us think about how such a tiny individual could feasibly walk in those shoes and why they're even trying to accomplish such a task, despite the fact that most would deem it impossible. Maybe they just live in a shoe. It looks like a person, ready to start a day in a pair of brand new shoes -- a fresh start, if you will. The photographer mainly uses shades of brown to make the image feel natural, while they also utilize blues and yellows to make the sky stand out amongst the foreground. They place the footprints behind the person in the shoe to explain to the audience that they made this long journey on their own, or maybe it has something to do with a small person having a large carbon footprint. They most likely want to criticize those who dissuade others from attempting feats that they deem impossible (walking far with shoes too big for you), or maybe even relating back to the phrase "being in someone else's shoes" to take upon a large responsibility/task. It appears to me that the person in the shoe is smiling and is having a pretty good time.

Self Actualization
6) Both the date and location of this image's creation are unknown. It shows a man painting a landscape. The scene depicts an artist attempting to do a study of the landscape in front of him, and he appears painted onto the canvas as well. In this picture, you can see a box of paints on the ground. In the background, one can observe the gray clouds covering the landscape, and a rocky mass can be seen in the left of the mid ground. The objects on the canvas clearly appear as if they were being painted on, with the artist's head unfilled. The viewer's attention is focused on the bright colors on the canvas (the artist's jacket and the ocean). The photo is incredibly expressive and depicts an individual finding his true potential, The photo makes us feel intrigued about the man and his painting, thus making us think about our own potential in life. It looks like the artist is trying to replicate what he sees in front of him, but finds potential in being part of the painting in itself. The photographer mainly uses shades of blue to contrast against the gray colors in both the foreground and background. They depict the artist within his own work to express how being an artist means putting your own quirks and being into your pieces, as it would not be yours in any other way. They probably wanted to express how individuality can have a large impact on your own artwork, and how, by proxy, artists are works of art in themselves. It appears to me that the artist is casually painting in a very scarce landscape, almost making it feel a bit lonely.

Fresh Frozen Fish
7) This photo is an image of a lake during winter, and depicts a man carrying back ice blocks of fish that he collected from the lake via chainsaw. In this picture, you can see a sled with fish blocks stacked on top of it. To the left, there's a rectangular hole in the ice where one of the blocks of fish came from, and in the background, there's either the sun rising or setting (likely the former.) The man in the image looks tired, but remains mostly upright. The viewer's eye directs to either the fisherman's dark blue jacket due to its contrast with the prominent light blue color in the image, or the purple of the sunrise. The photo is possibly relatable for those who do not work office jobs, depicting the man's hard work, and makes us interested in the odd fish. The picture makes us think about the good hard workers out there excavating frozen ice fish from the earth, apparently. It looks like the man is finished with his hard day/morning of work. The photographer mainly uses desaturated shades of light blue to make it appear foggy and cold, and they use frozen fish to express being trapped. In a block of ice. They probably want to show how hard working fishermen are, or how odd the nature of ice fishing can appear to someone who doesn't know how it works. It appears to me that one of the fish blocks fell off of the shed. Maybe its not good enough. Poor thing is going to be stuck there for quite a while.
